Our Role
Families often come to me feeling overwhelmed, unheard, or unsure where to begin.
My role is to help you:
💬 Understand the language & legal processes
🧠 Learn the why behind behaviors and what helps
📄 Clarify your child’s rights & options
🤝 Build productive collaboration with schools and caregivers
❤️ Feel supported, validated, and empowered
Advocacy — done well — should feel calm, respectful, and learner-centered.
What Makes Me Different From Other Advocates:
✔ Board-Certified Education Advocate — formally trained in advocacy ethics, practice, and law
✔ Deep knowledge of IDEA & special-education protections — explained in clear, family-friendly language
✔ 12 years in public education — across multiple roles — special ed, general ed & autism consultation
✔ Positive Behavior Support expertise — I look beyond behaviors to understand why they occur
✔ Lived experience as a parent — I advocate with both heart and skill
✔ Collaborative — not confrontational — I help schools and families work as a team
✔ Neurodiversity-affirming & trauma-informed — dignity and respect always
✔ Real-world strategies — supports that work at school, home, and in the community

About
My name is Holly Carpenter
Hi, I’m Holly Carpenter, MAE, PBSS — a Board Certified Special Education Advocate, Positive Behavior Support Specialist, and mom to an incredible child with autism, ADHD, and epilepsy.
For 12 years, I worked within the public-education system — serving as a special-education teacher, general-education teacher, and autism consultant. Those experiences gave me a deep understanding of how schools operate, how decisions are made, and what truly helps students thrive.
I also bring strong knowledge of special-education law — including IDEA and Section 504 — so I can help families understand their rights, participate confidently in the process, and collaborate effectively with schools.
Beyond my training and credentials, advocacy is personal for me.
I’ve sat in those meetings as a parent. I know the weight, the hope, and the emotion that comes with wanting the very best for your child.
At the heart of my work is one belief:
Every child deserves dignity, understanding, and the chance to succeed — without families feeling like they have to fight alone.
